This presentation will provide reasons for building systems that create learner autonomy and how it can be built.

Supporting students to become lifelong learners requires that we give them experiences and tools that can not only be used during their time on campus but also after they leave the university. It follows that these tools can't be controlled by the university, but rather must be controlled by learners. This talk describes why learner autonomy is important and how it can be achieved.
